A Spot of Tea

Well, the post title just happens to be my favorite place to have breakfast in Mobile, Alabama... but that's not what this post is about!  Today, Cocoa was treated to a princess tea for lunch.  Bean had the same things earlier, but chose not to eat.  Picky boy!

A - TEA! :) *decaf iced tea with splenda... nap is soon... I'm not crazy!
B - cucumber sandwich
C - scone (orange pumpkin cookie with orange icing)
D - pineapple and grape kabobs
E - pigs in a blanket
F - swiss cheese
G - cucumber sandwich

Of course, Cocoa was THRILLED to be having a tea and to wear her princess gown to lunch.  I even got out my good china tea pot and cups... and told her to be VERY careful!  Here are some pictures of her enjoying! :)

Two Peas Guesting

Happy Friday!  It's cold and rainy here, so it's the perfect night for me to take Cocoa to a high school football game, right?!?!  Ugh. Anyway, I have two layouts from the Two Peas new releases this week.  There was an ABUNDANCE of tasty kits this week... it was really difficult to choose what I wanted to create with!  I ended up picking "Sincerely" from Polka Dot Pixels and "Vintage Yuletide" from Hazel Olive Designs (new designer in the Two Peas store!).  Here's what I created with them!

This is Polka Dot Pixels "Sincerely" kit.  I've not seen another kit like this!  So much fun to work with!
Bean's first Christmas!  Hazel Olive's "Vintage Yuletide" was perfect for this two pager!  Some really beautiful papers and elements in this kit.

I have more plans for both kits, so check back later!

All Finished Friday... oops

Well, I didn't get my layouts posted yesterday.  I was exhausted and went to bed early.  In fact, I fell asleep and let Cocoa stay up an extra half hour while we watched Nick Jr.  Oops.  Anyway, here are the layouts I finished this week.  Enjoy!

I didn't use traditional colors for this because I really liked the orange in Cocoa's shirt.

This one was done for a challenge at Two Peas in a Bucket.
I'll probably fix it to be 12x12 because I don't scrap this size.
Also used Kerry Stewart's "Sum Total" clipping masks for this one.

MTM

It's Monday and the theme for this week's Muffin Tin Monday "Movies" (for explanation of Muffin Tin Monday, click on the link to visit the site).  I decided to ask Cocoa what movie theme she would like to do.  EVERYTHING is Toy Story right now, so I was confident that she would choose it.

She chose Peter Pan.  Right....

Bean's is the top tin and is modified because he can't eat everything that Cocoa can.  Cocoa's is the bottom tin.  Here's the lunch:
A: The Lost Boys/Peter Pan's tree (see this post for instructions on how to make it)
B: Swords(pretzels)
C: Peter Pan (PB&J... made with Peter Pan peanut butter)
D: Peter's shadow (Fruit Roll-Up)
E: Tink's wands (ham and cheese stars on a toothpick)
F: Mermaid's Lagoon (vanilla yogurt)
G: Pixie dust (sprinkles to put on the yogurt)
H: The crocodile that chases Hook (Rice Krispie Treat shaped like croc)
I: Hook's hook (avacado)

Cocoa, sprinkling Pixie Dust on the lagoon.

Bean, making a giant mess out of the lagoon. Seriously.  I didn't take pictures of what was to follow.

All Finished Friday

Who doesn't love a short week?!? Things seemed a little wonky at times though because I never knew what day it was!  I only have two additional layouts to share since the week was kind of crazy.  Hoping to create more over the weekend though!

Here's another layout featuring some of the great products that come with the Owl Tree Studio membership for September!  This consists mostly of the September School collaboration with a few additional extras the designers were so gracious to hand out this month!

Here's one I did with Karen Funk's new "Simplicity" kit available at Design House Digital, but created for Erica's Monday challenge at Two Peas in a Bucket.

Freebie!

I love four day weeks.  It goes by so fast... it's already Wednesday!  Cocoa starts preschool this morning, so I'll have pics/layouts up later, I'm sure.  For now, I have a freebie announcement for you!  Lucky Smith Designs has graciously offered up a kit called "Day of Whimsy", and it's free!  Here's a layout that I did with it, and then you'll find the kit below.  Free people!  Go pick it up! :)

Tuesday New Releases

A great new release from Kerry Stewart is available in the Two Peas in a Bucket store today!  Kerry has put together a set of "Messy Stitches", that have an autumn theme.  You get stitched leaves and wordart in both black and white.  I used a wordart stitching of the word "beauty" for the layout below.

Here's a preview of the kit:

I can't wait to snap some pictures of the kids playing in the leaves!  These stitches will be perfect!

All Finished Friday

Happy Friday everyone!  Bucks won last night!  WOO HOO!! Good way to start the season... just need to keep that momentum.  I'm just a few hours away from taking Cocoa to her first dentist appointment.  I definitely want to take pictures, but I will also have Bean in tow.  Not real sure how this is all going to work out because that kid doesn't sit still for a second.

I only have one other layout that I finished this week that wasn't a creative team requirement.  But it's from Karen Funk's "Color My World" kit and I just love it!  I just purchased her "Simplicity" kit last night and can't wait for some time to play!

If you're a scrapper, Two Peas in a Bucket is hosting an online crop tonight!  Always a lot of fun with chances to win gift certificates or kits.  Check out the link for more details.

1 - 2 - 3, Count with Me!

Today's Muffin Tin Monday theme is numbers/counting.  With the wedding, I wasn't able to get to the store last night, so I made a very quick stop at the Dollar Store.  I found some wonderful goodies to use.  I bought some gold cut-out numbers and letters and decided I would have Cocoa count the items in each tin cup and then put the corresponding number next to that cup.  We reviewed the numbers first (she even showed me that her 6 and 9 could jump upside down and become the other number) and then it was time to count!

Cocoa counting her grapes
Now putting the number above her sandwich.
Here's the meal:

7 - grapes
2 - PB & J sandwich cut into a star and halved (found the cutter at the dollar store)
9 - Cheddar Cheese Bugles
6 - Finger jello cut into strawberries
1 - ranch dressing dip
4 - carrots

I found the silver tin at the Dollar Store, as well as the crazy straws and the juice jugs.  I was overwhelmed with remembering drinking these when I was little, so I just had to get them.  And now, here's a picture of Bean eating his bugles.
Overall, successful and educational Muffin Tin lunch! :)

An Apple a Day

Well, the apple the kids ate for lunch would make the doctor faint!  Themes are back from the Muffin Tin Mom, and today was "ABC".  I also thought it was numbers, but that's next week.  Oops.  Oh well!

I decided to cut foods into shapes of things from A-F, and then have 2 groups of 1, 2 groups of 2, and 2 groups of 3.  Before eating, I had Cocoa help me figure out what letter each one started with by first listening to the sound.  She got about half of them, which for being three, I'm happy with that! :)

A - Apple-shaped chocolate chip cookie - 1
B - Bear, boat, and butterfly shaped cheese (kind of hard to see) - 3
C - Cat shaped tortillas - 2
D - Dinosaur shaped PB&J - 1
E - Elephant shaped cantaloupe - 3
F - Flower shape cut into the middle of a cucumber - 2

There aren't any pictures of the kids eating today because as soon as I put their meals in front of them, I had to scoot to a doctor's appointment.  My mother-in-law stayed and enjoyed watching the kids eat their lunch.  :)

Some Scrapping

Happy Friday everyone!  It's been a long week and I haven't been able to post until today.  I've been working on layouts and quick pages for the Owl Tree Studio September package... GORGEOUS!!!  Lots of great kits in September.  There are at least four amazing kits with papers and elements and then extras and 20+ quick pages....  there really isn't a better place to get more digiscrapping bang for your buck!

Anyway, I was able to get three other layouts finished besides those I can't show you yet.  Here's what I've been working on (click on link for full credits):

Have a great weekend!

Round and Round We Go!

Today's Muffin Tin theme was circles, or things that are round!  Not as inventive as some of the others I have been coming up with lately, but Cocoa still enjoyed it!

For lunch:
A: Pineapple ring
B: Banana and kiwi kabob (on a toothpick sword... always a favorite)
C: Sliced carrots
D & E: Bagel Bites pizza
F: Peas
G: Mini Chips Ahoy cookies

Cocoa went right after the pineapple ring and kabob.
Bean had the same thing, but I like to think his theme is "finger food".  I always just cut up whatever Cocoa's muffin tin lunch is.  Bean, however, decided his them would be "floor".
There he is playing with the peas he threw all over the floor.  He didn't eat a single thing.  :(

Patience of Job

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope your weekend was filled with fun and some time to relax.  My sister's bachelorette party was a lot of fun!  I hope she had a great time!

Monday means there are new kits in the Elemental Scraps store.  Lucky Smith Designs has come out with a new kit called "Patience of Job".  With two little ones in the house, I'm sure I'll use this kit quite a bit.  The number of moments captured that show a need for patience is abundant!  Yet, the layout I did for the kit isn't about patience at all, so it's also very versatile.  This morning, Cocoa introduced me to her imaginary friend.  Check out the layout:

Here's the kit:

I'll be back later with a new "Muffin Tin Monday" lunch!

New Release: "Summer Reading"

The librarian in me is partying inside!  Kerry'd Away Designs has a new kit called "Summer Reading".  This kit can be used for summer reading lists, library summer reading clubs, layouts of you or your kids reading... so many uses!  It makes me wish I was actually a practicing elementary librarian right now.  Oh, someday... when the kiddos are in school...  I digress.  Here's Kerry's kit:

And here are the pages I made with it.
Little Reader

Summer Reading

There is something about that compass and little cloud that just draws me in. And do you see the card from an old card catalog?!?!  *sigh*  Head over to Two Peas in a Bucket to pick up this kit today!

MTM and a New Release!

Big things are happening in our Muffin Tin World!  I have some fun ideas coming up before we start back with themes.  I ventured to World Market this weekend and found some great MTM stuff.  I think I'm going to hit the Columbus Asian Market at some point too so I can see what kind of goodies I can find!

Today, we did a literature theme.  My kids LOVE the book "King Bidgood's in the Bathtub" by Don and  Audrey Wood.  I am a HUGE fan of their books as well.  Here's what the kids had:

From top left, clockwise:
1. Open-faced cheese sandwich shaped like a "Rubber Ducky" (a duck isn't in the book, but what's a bath without a duck?)
2. King Bidgood in his bathtub (chocolate chip cookie cut into a man shape with homemade tapioca pudding bubbles).
3. Open faced cheese duck sandwich
4. "Canonball" watermelon ("Get out, it's time to battle!)
5. Goldfish crackers ("Get out, it's time to fish!)
6. The plug (glub, glub, glub) cucumber

In the book, the paige pulls out the plug at the very end of the story.
I tried to make the cucumber look like a plug. It must have been ok for Cocoa because she first pulled the plug out...

Before she could take out her cookie King Bidgood to eat him.
And then there's Bean... chomping away at his cheesy duck.

I also have a scrap page for you from the August Colorplay kit "Fond I Do" from Lucky Smith Designs at Elemental Scraps.  Here's the kit:

And there's wordart, and hangings, and other papers... so much this week!  Here's the page I created:

If all of my wedding photos weren't sitting in storage right now, I wouldn't leave this computer for a week! This kit is amazing!

Muffin Tin... Thursday

On Monday, Mr. Pepper and I took Cocoa to the fair, so we skipped our regular muffin tin meal.  I opted to go ahead and do a muffin tin meal for lunch today!  We had tacos on Tuesday night for dinner, so we did a "make your own" taco muffin tin!

Looking at Cocoa's tin (red hearts) from top left, clockwise:  frosted animal cookies (for dessert), plum, taco beef, tomatoes, sour cream, cheese, taco shell.  Bean did not partake of the taco shell because he kept choking on the bits on Tuesday night (I think next time I'll do Frito's for a more taco in a bag meal until he's able to stop gagging), so I gave him goldfish crackers and nixed the sour cream.  I can't even begin to fathom the mess that would have created!
Cocoa loved scooping her ingredients into her taco!
Bean loved the cheese!
